I want to share some important information about gaining financial freedom which I learned from one of my mentors, Jordan Adler. I’ve never forgotten this and it has helped me time and time and again to keep my sights focused on the right things, especially when I get discouraged.

Approximately 90% of people live “below the line”. What this means is that they struggle to make ends meet each month. Most are one financial disaster away from ruin. A job loss, a broken down car, or a medical emergency can set in motion a chain of events that leads to financial crisis.

Most people earn less than $50,000 a year and they live in captivity. They are captive of their financial circumstances. Most live with fear and uncertainty, not knowing if their next paycheck will be their last.

There’s a second group of people who live “above the line”. This group represents approximately 3% of the population. This group has achieved financial freedom. They have discovered that their circumstances do not define who they are. They don’t worry about money. They’re typically self made. They don’t rely on a job or a business. They have true security knowing that regardless of the state of the economy they can survive. They experience true security each month. They have a lifestyle of freedom.

They don’t have to work for their money any longer. The money comes in whether they go to work or not. They can commit their time and money to worthy causes. They have time for their families, travel, and exercise. They can spend their money on the things they choose without looking at the price because they know that next month the money will be coming back whether they go to work or not.

The gap in the middle represents the 7%. If you’re not already part of the 3%, as a network marketer you have already chosen to step above the line. You have chosen a plan for personal growth. In this gap between the 90% who live in captivity and the 3% who live in true financial freedom there is a process which moves people from below the line to above the line. And the great news is that this process is exactly what the network marketing industry gives us!

It’s like a ladder with steps that can take people from below the line to above the line. This ladder consists of four rungs:

1. A personal development plan which puts you on the pathway to personal growth.

2. A mechanism for helping people change their lives, whether through your products and services or through joining your downline.

3. A financial vehicle which allows you to make more money than you ever thought possible and establish a residual income which will pay you for the rest of your life.

4. A network of success minded individuals where you get to plug into one of the most powerful people networks in the world consisting to successful entrepreneurs, authors, speakers, business owners, other networkers, and many others.
